  • For parcel deliveries (smaller packages): When you sign for a package — whether on an automated handheld device or a paper form — your signature confirms that you have received the products in apparently good condition. If you sign without noting any damage on the delivery receipt, you accept the package as is.
  • For freight deliveries (large furniture, lighting fixtures, heavy crates): Do not sign the Bill of Lading (BOL) without first inspecting the visible condition of the crates or boxes. If you see any crushing, tearing, water staining, or other damage, note it clearly on the BOL before signing.

In all cases, you must report any concealed damage (damage not visible until the item is unpacked) within a very short period of receipt. If you fail to report within that window, homeandlightstore.com and our carriers may not be able to process a claim or offer a remedy.

Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Items

If your order arrives damaged, has a manufacturing defect, or contains the wrong item, we will make it right. In such cases:

  1. Do not refuse delivery unless the damage is extensive and immediately obvious. Instead, accept the delivery but note the damage on the carrier’s paperwork.
  2. Contact us immediately. Provide clear photographs showing the damage, defect, or the incorrect item alongside its packaging.
  3. Keep all original packaging and materials. Our team or the carrier may need to inspect them.

We will review your claim promptly. If approved, we will arrange for a replacement, a repair (if feasible), or a full refund to your original form of payment. You will not be charged extra for resolution of a verified damage or defect.
